The Shropshire Union canal network is situated in a triangle between the West Midlands, the Mersey and mid Wales. It consists of the Shropshire Union Main Line, the Llangollen Canal, the Montgomery Canal and the Shropshire Tub Boat Canals plus several branches.

Our vision is of an environmentally-friendly and sustainable Shropshire Union Canal network able to provide recreation and pleasure for all.

Since 1966, we have sought to promote, protect, restore, maintain and enhance the Shropshire Union Canal network for the benefit of the public.

Our restoration work is currently reopening the last remaining dry section of the Montgomery Canal in England – when complete, it will link the national canal network with the Welsh section of the Montgomery Canal. Our enhancement work is currently centred on the Llangollen Canal around Ellesmere.

Support us in safeguarding this beautiful community asset. We are open and welcoming and always looking for new people to get involved.

We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteers.
