Society History

In the Post-War era public interest in canals grew as the amenity opportunities were recognised. Public mood grew ahead of the nationalised bodies responsible for custodianship. As a result, organisations across the country were established to restore the run-down facilities in their area. The Shropshire Union Canal Society was one such. Read more…
