Restoration work is expensive. Between 2015 and 2020, it has typically amounted to between £1,000-£1,500 per metre of channel. Though smaller, there are also costs for enhancement works. But the results bring benefits to the area and far beyond. Not just in terms of leisure and recreation but also wellbeing and wildlife, restored and preserved architectural heritage and of course tourism and the local economy. There are different ways you can help:
- Donations: one-off or monthly recurring donations can be made here. If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider using Gift Aid which increases the value of your donation by 25%.
- Appeals: a fundraising appeal for our next restoration project on the Montgomery Canal south of Crickheath Bridge has been launched. Further details can be found here.
- Gifts in wills: After looking after your family and friends leaving a gift in your will is a wonderful way to make a lasting difference. If you would like to discuss further in person, please email enquiries@shropshireunion.org.uk and we will get in touch.
