The society will be represented at the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) Waterways Restoration Showcase on board the steam tug “Daniel Adamson” at Sutton Weaver on the River Weaver on Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30. The ‘Danny’ was originally built for the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company (SURCC) and is a truly remarkable craft which is well worth visiting.
The event opens at 10.30am and has free entry. There will be exhibition stands from twelve of the leading waterway restoration societies in the north west and Wales highlighting the work that they do to raise funds and bring back to life the work of the navvies of the 18th and 19th Centuries.
The “Danny” is moored by the Sutton Weaver swing bridge on the A56 close to Frodsham and Junction 12 on the M56. Parking will be free and light refreshments will be available on board the vessel. This is an excellent day out for all the family.
