The Society is sorry to pass on the sad news that Pat Wilson, who was chair of the Society three times, died in Leighton Hospital on Sunday, October 6 aged 94. The Society extends its condolences to her children Ian, Guy, Kay, and Mark and her grandchildren.
Pat joined the society in 1967 and soon joined the Council of Management. She became Society chair for the first time in 1972. She was heavily involved in the work to re-open Welshpool lock and led the campaign to help save the Montgomery Canal. She was well known for organising the collection and sale of the postage stamps for 27 years to raise funds for the SUCS.
